Lughnasadh - First Harvest

Today (7th of August) is the Lughnasadh cross quarter day .. I was greeted with a wall of cloud along the horizon at St Helen's.. light through the clouds and patches of blue but despite waiting optimistically until almost 7.30 there was no visible ball of fire today . Some beautiful light through the clouds, a heron , three cormorants flying overhead and two hares on the road on the way there. I connected with Earth Sea and Sky, made my prayers to Lugh ,Tailltiu and Eithlinn/ Eithne in gratitude for all I have and for abundance to sustain the family as I restart Coire Sois. A beautiful morning. Later I will light my Lughnasadh fire . Lughnasadh blessings to you all πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸŒ½πŸŒ» looking forward to Lughnasadh zoom workshop tomorrow 🌻

The Festival of Lughnasadh ,time of First Harvest is upon us. Although the cross quarter day is not until 7th August, when I will rise to greet the sunrise and light my ceremonial fire , farmers are already busy and festivities have kicked off with the start of the month. August is LΓΊnasa in the Irish language taking it's name from the God Lugh and the feast of Lughnasadh . Lugh established the Tailteann games in honour of his foster mother Tailltiu. This was a time of remembering the dead , of feasting and celebrating , of competitive games and displays of skill, craft and warrior feats . Wishing you all blessings of the first harvest πŸŒ½πŸŒ»πŸ’›
